La semana del 26 al 30 de mayo, se ha celebrado la Cumbre Europea del Patrimonio Cultural 2026 en Nicosia, Chipre. El objetivo de esta Cumbre era explorar el poder del patrimonio cultural como a puente pera el di\u00e1logo, la reconciliaci\u00f3n y la paz. Un tema especialmente relacionado con el hecho que tanto Chipre como la ciudad de Nicosia, est\u00e1n divididos en dos, despu\u00e9s de la ocupaci\u00f3n por parte del ej\u00e9rcito turco de la mitad norte de la isla, en 1974. La situaci\u00f3n de medio oriente, especialmente dram\u00e1tica en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, tambi\u00e9n refuerza la pertinencia de esta Cumbre, en este momento y en este lugar tan sensible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RehabiMed ha sido invitado a participar en la Cumbre, para presentar la experiencia de los \u00faltimos seis a\u00f1os en Siria, especialmente con el proyecto desarrollado en Raqqa, financiado por el Cultural Protection Found<\/em> del British Council<\/em>. Esa presentaci\u00f3n se ha realizado en el quinto F\u00f3rum del European Heritage Hub<\/em>: \u201cMare Nostrum: Promoviendo la paz mediante el patrimonio cultural\u201d, el d\u00eda 29 de mayo de 2026. Un debate interesante, con la presencia de voces de tota Europa, el Mediterr\u00e1neo i medio oriente.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En los diferentes paneles de debate, se han presentado iniciativas y proyectos que han puesto de manifest\u00f3 hasta qu\u00e9 punto el patrimonio cultural contribuye a reforzar la cohesi\u00f3n social de la poblaci\u00f3n golpeada por los conflictos y a recuperar sus valores identitarios. Unas acciones que \u00fanicamente se puede hacer con la implicaci\u00f3n de la sociedad civil, los responsables pol\u00edticos y las organizaciones internacionales en la protecci\u00f3n del patrimonio, para construir un futuro m\u00e1s sostenible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The European Cultural Heritage Summit 2026 took place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 26 to 30 May. The aim of this Summit was to explore the power of cultural heritage as a bridge for dialogue, reconciliation and peace. A topic particularly linked to the fact that both Cyprus and the city of Nicosia are divided in two, following the occupation by Turkish army of the northern half of the island, in 1974. The situation in the Middle East, which has been particularly dramatic in recent years, also reinforces the relevance of this Summit, at this time and in this very sensitive place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RehabiMed was invited to participate in the Summit, to present the experience of the last six years in Syria, especially with the project developed in Raqqa, funded by the Cultural Protection Fund of the British Council. This was at the fifth Forum of the European Heritage Hub: \u201cMare Nostrum: Promoting peace through cultural heritage\u201d, on 29 May 2026. An interesting debate, with the presence of voices from all over Europe, the Mediterranean and the Middle East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the different debate panels, initiatives and projects were presented that have shown the extent to which cultural heritage contributes to strengthening the social cohesion of the population hit by conflicts and to recovering their identity values. Actions that can only be carried out with the involvement of civil society, political leaders and international organisations in the protection of heritage, to build a more sustainable future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
