FORUM FOR THE PROMOTION OF TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE IN THE MAGHREB

Recovering the social, economic and heritage values of traditional architecture

Our years of experience in preserving traditional architecture heritage in the Mediterranean with Euromed projects such as Corpus, Corpus Levant and RehabiMed have led to this latest challenge in the recovery of Mediterranean historic and cultural identity. Our latest project, Montada, focuses on countries in the Maghreb.

Montada forms part of the Euromed Heritage IV programme and serves to promote the traditional architecture of historic centres by encouraging political agents and the population to appropriate it. The idea is to create a new framework of governance and implement tools to involve local society in the promotion of its cultural values on a basis of the interchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge, generating social cohesion that further serves to consolidate heritage as a sign of identity and a cultural and economic resource.

Montada will generate and foster a change in mentality, perception and organization at the local scale, turning heritage into the driving force of sustainable development.
